Mansfield Swim Club is part of a group of swimming clubs known as "District 22". This means that we swim interclub meets against
swim clubs. As there are two swimming pools in Seymour (indoor 25 metre and outdoor 50 metre) we swim in Seymour twice and every other pool once. We also host a home Pennant in Mansfield. Pennant competitions are normally held on Saturday afternoons.
Pennant swimming is all about our team. Swimmers are placed into races according to their age group - and sometimes into races that have mixed age groups. Most of the swims are relays (4 people) and we also have Pairs (2 people). There are also some individual swims that are usually longer distances (100, 200 and 400 metres). Our Head Coach is responsible for allocating the events so that everyone has a swim but we also have the best chance of some great results. Each swim gives points to our club - regardless of where we place - so we try and have someone swimming in every race. Pennant swimming is a lot of fun and a great way to come along and enjoy competition swimming.
Swimmers who wish to be eligible for the Mansfield Swim Club Age Champion trophies must swim a minimum of 50% of Pennant events.
Swimmers who would like to compete at a Pennant Event must write their name up on the signup sheet near the clubrooms by the Wednesday 10 days before the event. Transport is usually available to help swimmers get to the event.
