During the swimming pool season (November - March) training is normally held on Monday, Tuesday ,Wednesday & Thursday mornings / evenings. Swimmers will be allocated training times according to their ability.

2024/2025 Training times Monday / Wednesday morning 6.30am - 8am (starting time is squad dependant) Breakfast Club included Friday morning 7am - 8am (gold squad only). NO Breakfast Club provided
Tuesday / Thursday afternoon 4pm - 5pm or 5 - 6.30pm (squad dependant) Swimmers are encouraged to speak to the coaches about the number of sessions that they should be attending. With our short season we have found that the potential for injuries with over training can be high - please be mindful of training within your fitness and skill set. Senior swimmers should be training with our squads at least twice a week (see squad descriptions below). 8U swimmers will be offered afternoon sessions only (and possibly move to mornings at the discretion of the coaching team). 10U swimmers need to talk with the coach regarding morning sessions. Our afternoon squads are usually broken into junior / junior development swimmers at 4pm (up to and including grade 6) and our senior swimmers (usually secondary school) at 5pm. Variations may occur according to the ability and social needs of each swimmer at the coaching team discretion.
2024/25 Squads Mansfield Swim Club is a community-based competitive swimming club that promotes the development of swimmers regardless of gender, at every stage. The Mansfield Swim Club squad structure is designed to give swimmers the ability to move up, across and into a squad that will meet their swimming needs based on age, swimming ability, swimming goals and commitment level. It is also based on our pool and coach availability throughout the season. Squad allocation is at the discretion of our coaching team, with all the above factors kept in mind.
Junior Squad (1-2x per week, 60 minutes, afternoons only) Our Junior squad is for those who have completed Learn-to-Swim, and introduces them to a squad environment, longer training sessions and practicing more race- specific skills. Competitions that we prepare these athletes for include: School & club competitions Encouragement meets
Within our Junior squad system, we also cater for those who have progressed beyond the first steps into squad, who can train more frequently and for longer, with the same emphasis on race skills. Development Squad (2 x per week, 60 minutes, mornings) Our Development squad is designed for swimmers who have once again grown older, stronger and faster, who are now targeting higher level competitions. The transition is both ability and age based – however swimmers 9U may be included at the coach’s discretion according to ability, resilience and other factors. Competitions that we prepare Development athletes for include: Swimming Victoria meets District, Club and school competitions Victorian Country Championships
Senior Squad (2 - 4 per week, 60 - 90 minutes) Our senior squads (all streams) are for those who are in year 7 and above. We strongly encourage swimmers at this level to also participate in strength & conditioning sessions. Swimmers in this squad are encouraged to havegoals to succeed at the state level and eventually progress towards qualifying for nationals. Competitions that we prepare senior squad athletes for include: Swimming Victoria meets (short course & long course) District, club and school competitions Victorian Country Championships Victorian Age Championships (short course, long course, sprint and/or open water)
Senior Fitness Squad (1-2x per week, 60 - 90 minutes) A squad for those at secondary school, with a program that is supportive of a range of goals including: Fitness Social swimming Competition preparation (pool, open water and/or triathlons) There is no expectation to compete if you are in this squad.
Gold Squad (1x per week, 60 minutes – in addition to a minimum of 2 x senior or 2 x development) The Gold Squad is a selection-based squad which provides coaching and support for athletes performing highly. Attendance at competitions is expected in this squad to build confidence and experience. Swimmers 10U may be included at the coach’s discretion according to – but not limited to - ability, resilience, attitude, teamwork skills, motivation and communication skills. Entry into this squad is by invitation from the Coaching Team, with up to 10 positions available. Competitions that we prepare our Gold squad athletes for include: Victorian Age Championships (short course, long course, sprint and/or open water) Victoria Country Championships Swimming Victoria meets (short course & long course) District, club and school competitions
CLUB BATHERS Whilst are club bathers are not compulsory, we'd love to see as many of our clubbies as possible repping the Mansfield Swim Club (especially those who want to compete). Purchases are directly via the Funkita / Funky Trunks webpage and can be ordered at any time throughout the season.
* Ensure that you have registered your Swimming Victoria membership BEFORE purchasing so that you can use your 20% discount. If you are not sure what your code is, search your emails to find your welcome email from registration. The code is in the email and is valid until 30 June of the following year - and be used multiple times.
* Create an account / login at the Funkita / Funky Trunks webpage so that you can collect "Feed the Funkys" points which act as credits toward your next purchase.
The colour way is updated each year. If your swimmer would like some plain bathers as well, we recommend choosing the colour "Still Ocean" which is in a similar colourway.
CLUB MERCHANDISE ALL of our club merchandise (except caps, bathers& goggles) is available directly from our club shop on Swim Merch. Whilst it is not compulsory to purchase we encourage our competition members to wear club polos (at minimum).
GEAR BAGS All swimmers need to bring the following to every session:

Kickboard - we have club supplies for those who don't have their own
*Only for senior squad members. Gear is to be stored in a mesh bag (so that it can drain) and can be left at the club if needed (eg for our morning swimmers). IF your swimmer would like to borrow club flippers either as an interim measure or for the season, we can assist either before or after their squad session. Names will be recorded so that club equipment is returned at the end of the season.
Off season training The following options are available for swimmers during the off season. Please contact the relevant person directly if you would like to be involved:
Benalla Swimming Club - training with the Benalla club is an option for Mansfield swimmers depending on their squad sizes and availability. If you would like to take part please direct your enquiry to Mansfield Swim Club for confirmation and availability.
